Stitching

Well, during the school holidays I've managed a few hours of sewing.

I took my children to a play centre and whilst they had fun, I had fun merrily sewing away.

I've been looking through Pinterest and been inspired to do something vintagey (is that a word?) and whimsical and came up with this...

                     

The half moon lace is tatting done on my grandma's tatting shuttle to give it the vintage touch whilst the large piece of lace in the scroll shape is guipure lace.

I've done it in a heart on calico and intend to make it into a heart shaped lavender bag.

Folksy and Betsy and Me

During the first few days of the new year, I have continued to make my page for my shop on Folksy.  I have decided to call this part of my 'craft venture' Betsy and Me at Eiledon.

I'm going to put some of my current makings on Folksy to test the waters along with some new makings.

I've now got a key for Betsy's box.  I have spent the last few months of the year de-fluffing her and polishing her to make her hopefully the best and most fluff free she has been in several decades.




She stitches beautifully and I hope to use her when i can to sew items that I sell in the future.



So excited about my next stages in crafting!

New Year ....new resolutions

It's been a while since I last posted, but decided to put it on my calendar as a reminder to write more posts!
Had a very busy year. This year I made a Lego Star award party for my son- with Princess Leah hair for the adult game!


Also been busy restoring my 105 year old hand crank Singer sewing machine who I have named Betsy. Just started a new range called Betsy and Me. So far I've made bunting and lavender hearts with her.  Will post some pics now with a view to doing more regular posts on my makes.

applique phone case

This week my daughter got a new phone (an early birhday present).
.
Her friend is buying her a phone case for her birthday, but I'm convinced she's going to drop it before then....so I've made a simple padded phone cover to protect it!

T-shirts

T-shirts...now I don't know wether my son is going to be a designer or he knows just what he wants and expects mum to deliver the goods, but two requests were made for knew t-.shirts.
The first was Yoda as he loves Star Wars.



The second was a Lego ninja t-shirt with his name in black letters underneath.


Very demanding!

Appliquéd bags

This year I'm into appliqué.
My daughter wanted a new sports bag for high school. She wanted something different to carry her trainers and football boots.
After looking through ideas, she finally came up with this...

She's even more pleased that some of the girls have asked her where she got it from!



Moving on fromthat. I decided to do a bag just for me...I have thing for caravans and own one myself.
So for me 'girls don't camp...they glamp




My son wants a t shirt or two doing now!

Gruffalo Party!!!

Can't believe it's a year since I last posted on this blog...apologies, but I have been sooo busy and promise to post more often.

It started off with all participants being fitted with a mask and claws.

 

 

They all had a sticker on so that at least I knew who they were and I put them into teams: team mouse, snake, fox or owl so that I knew which group they belonged with.

 

We made snake finger puppets from mrprintables and we then read the story with puppets I made (photos to be put in next blog)

 

 

 

 

 

I then split the four groups up into the four corners of the hall and for ten minutes they played that game before moving around clockwise to the next game:

 

 

Throw the beanbags through the Gruffalo's mouth.

Find the snakes egg in the nest (plastic hollow eggs, which you can open up and put in either a sweet or a Gruffalo themed sticker)

 

Pin the poisonous wart on the Gruffalo

 

 

We had the Gruffalo stomp game- stamping on a square of bubble wrap and the winner is the person who pops the most in the time given.

We also included the parents by pulling children's names out of the hat and the three names pulled out have to join in the game!

I made them horns attached to an alice band with a fringe of hair like the Gruffalo made from black wool.

 

 

 

Even my parents joined in!!

 

The sweets and prizes they won throughout the party they got to put in their party bags and fill them up.  I also made things for the bag.  They got to take home their masks and claws, I made Gruffalo finger puppets, pencil toppers and put in crayons with Gruffalo themed pictures.

 

Finally the cake was.......of course- Gruffalo

 

We had a great day and the party was a complete success
